Getting your dog to fetch…

Most dogs get fun and enjoyment out of a simpie game of fetch.Fetching is a triple function, discipline,it gives your dog needed exercise,it also helps you to bond, and it gets your dog into the habit of returning to you.

Jogging for fitness…

For the more athletically inclined, dogs can make great jogging partners.Be sure you have a dog whose that is the right temperament that makes him suitable as a running partner.

To get the best out of your jogging, do not use a regular leash, your arm could be pulled out of its socket. Its best to buy or make a hands free running leash that ties securely around your waist.

The commercial type of hands free leashes with bungee. These have a 360 degree range so they can swivel around your body. One great advantage of the hands free lead is that it lets keep your regular running form.

Dogs love swimming…

Swimming is a great exercise for dogs. It’s low-impact, so there’s no stress on the joints of older or arthritic dogs. It also helps to excercise all muscles at the sametime. The majority of dogs are natural swimmers, and younger dogs learn to enjoy it.

Dog walking for fittness…

Walking is a great exercise for both humans and dogs alike, as long as you walk together.

Use a leash unless you’re in a safe, fenced in area. For walking after dark, you can buy a leash with a combination retractable lead and flashlight.

Dog agility training…

In agility training, a handler is given a set time to guide a without its lead through an obstacle course consisting of jump and tunnels, plus weaving poles and teeter-totters etc. Setting up an agility course in your garden can be great fun and a good way for your dog to get regular exercise.

Our Thing $11.04 Joe Henderson’s second recording as a leader features a very strong supporting cast: trumpeter Kenny Dorham (one of Henderson’s earliest supporters), pianist Andrew Hill, bassist Eddie Khan, and drummer Pete La Roca. Together they perform three Dorham and two Henderson originals, advanced music that was open to the influence of the avant-garde while remaining in the hard bop idiom. The up-tempo blues “Teeter Totter” contrasts with the four minor-toned pieces and, even if none of these songs became standards, the playing is consistently brilliant and unpredictable. Fire Works $23.99 New Zealand’s High Dependency Unit call themselves psychedelic punk rock. Somewhat misleading, the self-applied term could provoke thoughts of ugly hybrids. Punk Floyd sounds like a bad concept, as does Stiff Little Elevators. Ditto for Subterranean Pillow. What HDU actually sounds like is a powerhouse rock trio, a predominantly instrumental one, that doesn’t so much align itself with the trickiness that math rock implies as they vaguely suggest it or loom above it. With their ultra-accomplished musicianship, they could easily blow holes through any given band that tries its darndest to apply as many bizarre time signatures as possible. Tristan Dingemans, Neil Phillips, and Constantine Karlis have more in common with bands like Shellac and Band of Susans, bands that can apply textures and hypnotic passages just as well as dynamic, riff-based passages. As a matter of fact, it’s the slower, less crunching third of Fire Works that impresses most. The middle of the record, a ten-minute stretch comprised of “Giant Overpasses” and “Sasparilla,” is where you should head for evidence that HDU is anything but a garden variety rock band; the latter displays a masterful control of effects and feedback, using a slow-motion teeter totter effect to such a wonderful extent that you all but forget the jackhammering aggression of the preceding songs; it only melds directly into “Sasparilla,” continuing the off-kilter nature with subtle electronic bleeps, eerie clusters of noise, and a persistent drum pattern. Extended Play $5.58 New Zealand native Gin Wigmore’s debut EP delivers the promise of a unique, new (if slightly divisive) voice in the crowded alternative singer/songwriter field. Wigmore hopped aboard the major-label train (Universal Australia) after nabbing the top prize in 2004′s International Songwriting Contest in New York with “Hallelujah,” a deeply personal lament for the then 16-year-old’s deceased father. That song and four others make up the guts of Extended Play, a collection of bluesy, slightly off-kilter folk-pop that channels Feist and Fiona Apple with a twist. That twist would be Wigmore’s impossible to ignore vocal style, a bourbon and unfiltered cigarette siren that sounds like the middle of a Joanna Newsom and Axl Rose teeter-totter. Mud $13.58 Five years after her musical debut , Hungarian-born former actress Eszter Balint (remember Eva from Stranger Than Paradise?) delves deeper into her primal nightmare blend of roots rock, blues, and angular swamp funk, and comes up with Mud. Produced by J.D. Foster, the set features Balint on vocals and guitar aided by downtown improvising axeman Chris Cochrane on guitars, bassist Mike DuClos, and drummers Phil Hernandez and Nic Brown, the album is a teeter-totter of tension, and slack yet compelling rhythms and quirky melodies. Balint’s songwriting style descends from Tom Waits and Lucinda Williams, but is far from anchored in those boggy moors. She’s heard all of the alt-country records, the jagged edges of 1980s downtown New York no wave, and the hollow dynamics of post-Nirvana indie rock — and she’s found them all wanting. Her closest peers are, perhaps, Joe Henry — as evidenced by his last three records — the Marianne Faithfull of Broken English, and the Los Lobos of Kiko. This is a different kind of Americana, one observed and fought with by an immigrant who comes filtered through the smashed Hollywood dream, the romanced view of a country that has long-since disappeared into Greil Marcus’ “Old Weird America,” and a present New York full of ghosts, loose-wire energy, and the wish for a clean, emotional break with the past. Balint’s songs, whether they be engaging, bossa-flavored love dislocation anthems such as “No One,” the shambolic rock & roll of “This Lie,” the wah-wah and funk paces of the teetering-on-the-brink-of-disappearance soul-blues of “Here We Are,” or the minor-key Link Wray choogle of “Your God,” Balint and her band get the job done. They show up, turn it up, and let fly with a collection of songs that balances nuance, grace, toughness, and a cool reportorial cynicism with the many faces of rock in the 21st century.
