The self cleaning glass bears special surface coating. It is ideal for façades as it helps in the maintenance with its self cleaning properties. Such glass bear two types of self clean coatings namely- hydrophobic and hydrophilic. The hydrophobic coatings also termed as easy-clean repel dirt, water and water drops from drying o the glass pane that often leaves an ugly stain. Again, hydrophilic coatings are photo catalytically active and are mechanically much more stable. It offers water sheathing effect on the glass surface that washes away organic dirt.
