Can I give my 11 month old kitten Catnip?
I saw some at Wal-Mart in the Cat section, and I wanted to get it for my kitten, shes 11 months, her birthday is coming up in 9/22! I wanted to get he some catnip, but I told my brother its gets them really jumpy, and high, like marijuana only its not as dangerous as marijuana (for Cats!) he still said no! I wanted to get he some presents like a comfy little bed, and a scratching post, couple of toys, a new groomer, and new dry food, with a some canned Cat Food. he wants to get her a house. but anyway, how can i convince him? and is it dangerous for her if shes turning 1 years old? also my cats already jumpy, shes not jumpy jumpy, but shes pretty hyper, my dad can’t probably wait to see her go crazy, haha, really! he loves messing with her! 
We really do love her to death, but we don’t want anything to happen to her….
It’s not going to hurt her, but you shouldn’t use it every day. just like once a week or so. Also some cats don’t really react to catnip, and the young cats have sometimes not developed the obsession, so don’t be surprised if nothing happens.
You seem to be willing to invest some money into your cat’s wellbeing, I have to command you on that. The best thing you can do for her in the long term is to give her high quality food. This will keep her healthy. Unfortunately most of the food on the market is harming the cats in long term, so choose wisely.
I can’t recommend feeding ANY dry food. Cats are designed to get their water from food. That’s the way nature designed them, they have low thirst drive. When fed dry, they won’t drink enough to compensate for the lack of moisture. They will only consume about 50% of the water they should be having. This can lead to kidney disease, UTI, crystals, blockage, renal failure and more.
Free feeding also leads to obesity. And the fact that dry food is over-processed means, that most of it’s little nutrition has been already destroyed, leaving almost no nutrients for your cat. It needs to eat more to meet his needs, and in the process consumes more calories from the fillers.
Btw wetting the dry food will not help. There’s bacteria on the kibble and the water would just allow it to grow.
The only way to give the cat it’s natural hydration is to feed it wet food only.
But some wet foods are junk too. That goes for most commercial foods. Just like the dry, they are often made with cheap fillers such as corn, wheat, soy, rice etc. These are not a part of cat’s natural diet (it’s an obligate carnivore – it eats meat!) and they are not designed to digest it. Grain is carbohydrate which the cats can’t process and it turns into blood sugar and fat, causing diabetes and obesity. In the wild, where cats only hunt for meat, diabetes and obesity are unheard of. It’s us who cause these by feeding a species inappropriate food.
The healthiest food to feed apart from raw feeding is grain-free wet food with no by-product. Learn to read the label and understand the ingredients. Some good brands are Wellness CORE, EVO, Merrick, Nature’s Variety, Felidae, Blue Buffalo Wilderness and more. These will give your cat the proper hydration and nutrition it’s designed to get and it will be strong and healthy.
If you switch it’s diet, do it gradually, by mixing the current food with the new one over couple of weeks until there’s only the new. This will prevent diarrhea and upset stomach.

That could’ve been done intentionally — the band labels itself “Technicolor pogo punk” and goes for a mix of punk franticness and plastic electro-pop synths; a nice idea at face value, and sometimes it even works — see the opener “Moog Is Love,” a well-realized swirl of buzzing guitars and electronic beats, catchy all over. However, it doesn’t really work all the way, because Polysics don’t really care about catchiness, only about being as extravagant as possible. “Pogo” in their self-description obviously refers to the compositional approach, which hops all over the place like a kitten in a catnip field, scampering around wild piano lines, bouncy bass riffs, distorted guitar chords, carnival vocalizations, and a million of pointedly cheap synthesizer noises. The direction of the songs is changed every several seconds, and each new development tries oh-so-hard to outdo its predecessor screaming “lookit me, I’m ironic and weird,” which, however, is apt to cause disorientation. The crazed tempo makes it worse: this type of punk speed goes against everything the band tries to accomplish, because the breakneck assault leaves no place for the nuances that are supposed to be the fun of this ride. Later on, the album churns out some better numbers again, such as “Irotokage,” but by then, the damage is already done, and the impression from We Ate the Machine is likely to be that of a nice record, if using the skip button.
